Donald Trump’s knee-jerk reaction to an election the Republicans appear to be losing is not only a worrying sign for the midterms, but another question mark over his mental state. Or perhaps he just can’t stand to see a fellow former reality TV star bite the dust.
Spencer Pratt has slipped into third place in the Los Angeles mayor’s race, which is a blow to Republican hopes of pulling off a major upset. In truth, it would have been a miracle if Pratt had pulled it off.
But reality appears to be biting for the one-time The Hills bad boy—which is not actually a bad thing for Republicans, despite Trump’s walk-out meltdown over the weekend.
Because progressive Nithya Ramen will give incumbent Karen Bass a much tougher fight in November. The top two candidates in the open primary go through to fight it out, and the polls suggest Bass would have wiped the floor with Pratt. Up-and-comer Ramen is gaining in popularity, and it could end up as an awkward showdown for the Democratic Party establishment that has thrown its weight behind Bass.
CNN analyst Harry Enten accused Trump and the Republicans of "the dumbest conspiracy ever" this morning over attempts to paint the election as “crooked.” But then again, Enten said Pratt stood a chance of winning the LA race a few weeks ago. Even Enten doesn’t always see reality in the stars.
